    Furthermore, the formatting and layout of the book is terrible. This book is all about the math. There is no strategy discussion, and it is ridiculous to think you that you would memorize all the information in this book. If you are interested in how odds are calculated, you might find this interesting. Otherwise, I am not sure what you will get from it.

    Its impossible to understand. I'm rexas a lot of reviewers hammer this book as being useless to players who are not very mathematically oriented but would still like to improve their knowledge of probability and odds.

    And I understand that percent. That is not holdem proper audience for this book. It is poker for that because the author has presented a unique way to construct poker odds from the bottom texas. The book not only evaluates the probability of achieving any made hand based on what is in one's own hand, but also gives a method for calculating adjustments book the common cards appear on the board.

That is useful to many players, but it does not give you much flexibility to further model the game outside of that framework.

    As for myself, I am a programmer with economic math training who got this book two years ago because there was simply nothing else comparable on the market. Books by Yao and Hillger, while having valuable insights on strategy, all revert to the traditional outs-based exposition of probability and odds.

    One of these days the poker world is going to start producing elegant ways to crunch down odds and probabilities into the kind of simplified playing techniques that transformed blackjack e. If used the right way by the right audience, this book could contribute to paving the way for that breakthrough.

    One person found this helpful. Having read many of the above reviews, poker is clear that many people claim that the maths involved is far too difficult. This is not true. Yes you holdem have to have a reasonable understanding of maths but texas you need a phd is stupid.

    I would say that you need an average understanding of basic mathematical principles as well as a certain degree of experinece of playing hold'em in order to odds your poker from this book. Pooer have this book and by simply reading it, ofds hands you chase and dont chase change dramatically, it really does have an effect on the way you play.

    It covers book mathematical thinking behind calculating odds for hands but also shows the overall odds in a table. However if you take time and study the book then you find yourself subconsiously calculating odds at the table and in turn becoming a more accomplished poker player. In time the skills and logic covered in the book become second nature and you find you idds devote more time to studying the other players.

    One slight drawback to this book is that when you begin to apply it to your game, it can take time to perfect it, and you find yourself not being able to concentrate as pkker on other aspects of the game such as positioning, table image, picking up tells and reads etc. Having said that in order to be a succesful poker player, calculating odds is an essential piker and all good poker players must experinece this difficult stage.
